Amazing Dining Experiences At Walt Disney World

With over 200 places to dine, you’ll be amazed at the wide choice of tasty treats you can indulge in. Experience classic dining options, character meals, perfect pasta, fine dining, themed snacks, or even enjoy dining at a dinner show – the choice is yours.

What Is The Disney Dining Plan?

Firstly, you can only add a Disney Dining Plan to a Disney Resort Hotel package.  That means you must be staying at a Disney hotel.  Dining plans are not available if you’re staying off-site.  You can also only purchase a dining plan if you’re arriving on 9th January 2024 or after.

There are 2 tiers of the Disney Dining Plan to choose from – the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan & Disney Dining Plan.  Although the names are quite similar, there’s quite a big difference between the two.  We’ll go into more detail about the differences soon.

The Disney Dining Plans are a prepaid meal plan that includes snacks, drinks, and meals.  Instead of paying out of pocket for every meal or snack whilst at Disney, you’ve already paid so you can relax and enjoy the parks without having to whip out your credit card.  It allows families to budget in advance for their meals and provides convenience and flexibility during their Walt Disney World holiday.

When you purchase a Disney Dining Plan, you receive a set number of meal credits and snack credits, depending on the level of plan you choose. Each credit can be redeemed for a variety of food and beverage options at select dining locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

How Do Disney Dining Plans Work?

The Disney Dining Plan works on a simple credit system. Depending on the plan you choose, you will receive a certain number of credits per person, per night of your stay. These credits can be redeemed at any participating restaurant on Disney property.

Depending on your plan, each meal credit can be used for:

  • one quick-service meal which includes an entree (main meal) and a drink
  • or one table-service meal which includes an entree (main meal), dessert, and drink

Some table-service restaurants also offer character dining experiences, where you can meet with beloved Disney characters.

In addition to meal credits, you will also receive snack credits, which can be used for a wide range of snacks and drinks available at various locations throughout the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. Snack options include popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, and of course, the world-famous Mickey Bars!

When Should I Visit Orlando?

What’s The Difference Between The Two Disney Dining Plans?

Let’s start with what’s the same.  Both plans give you 1 snack per night.  So if you’re staying for 10 nights, you’ll get 10 snack credits to use anytime during your stay.

On either plan, you’ll also get one of the super cool Resort Refillable Mugs (worth around $22).  These can be used at self-service beverage stations located at your Disney Resort hotel. This means you can enjoy unlimited refills of coffee, tea, soda, and more, throughout your stay.  These will only work at Disney Resort hotels at the refill stations and not anywhere else such as the theme parks, Disney Springs or water parks.

Each plan will also include at least one Quick Service meal & drink.  Where they differ is with the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan you’ll get 2 per night and with Disney Dining Plan you’ll get one.  The second meal on the Disney Dining Plan is a table service meal.  Other than that, the plans are exactly the same.

Disney Dining Plan Explained

ยฃ77.99 per adult, ยฃ24.99 per child, per night

If you prefer a more leisurely pace and want to enjoy table-service meals along with quick service options, then the Disney Dining Plan is the perfect choice for you.

With the Disney Dining Plan, you can enjoy a combination of both quick-service and table-service meals. This means you can indulge in character dining experiences, themed restaurants, and upscale dining options throughout your trip. Reservations are highly recommended for table-service meals, ensuring you have a guaranteed seat at some of the most popular dining locations.

With the Disney Dining Plan includes one quick service meal, one table service meal and one snack per night of stay, and a resort refillable mug.

One crucial detail to note is that gratuities are not included in the Disney Dining Plan at table-service and buffet restaurants. While your meals and snacks are covered by the plan, it’s important to remember that you’ll need to plan and budget separately for gratuities. This ensures that you can show appreciation for the excellent service you receive from Disney’s dedicated cast members.

The table service meal allows you to sit down and be served by a waiter or waitress at select restaurants. These meals offer a variety of cuisines including character dining, tasty buffets and family-style dining with live entertainment.  It’s a great way to enjoy a meal while taking a break from the excitement of the parks.   A few signature restaurants require 2 table-service credits.

Advance dining reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance.  Disney Resort hotel guests can also book for up to 10 days of their stay at once.  And remember, when you book your Walt Disney World holiday with Orlando Insider, we’ll take care of all your restaurant reservations for you.  Think of all the time and hassle you’ll save!

How Do I Use My Dining Credits?

It’s super easy.  There’s no vouchers to worry about.  Your dining plan meals and snack credits are all stored on your Magic Band or Resort Card.  Just tap, pay and go.  At quick-service restaurants, you can also mobile order using the My Disney Experience app to save time.  Remember, you can use your credits anytime during your stay too.

Does Everyone Need To Purchase A Dining Plan?

You’ll need to pay for a dining plan for each person in your room.  If you have 2 or more rooms, you can decide which rooms have and don’t have the plans, but everyone booked into that room needs to purchase the same dining plan.   Dining Plans are not available for guests under the age of 3, but they can share from an adult plate at no charge, or you can purchase a separate meal at the restaurant.
